Cheers to both you, good info
Pavlo, you know about the ecu i could be getting and you recommend the JECS route. What is this??
I was thinking about the STI engine but it will be a pain in the **** to swap over wont it? Is there a lot of difference? If im already changing the manifold, the injectors, possibly the heads to sti as you and John said and a couple of other bits, then if i change the heads to STI heads - wont it nearly be a STI engine?? Or is there something really big im missing??
Cheers once again guys

At the moment its a My95 wrx with scoobysport downpipe, Blitz Nur Spec R and Blitz induction kit.
But going on soon are:
550 injectors
FMIC
Andy F's turbo
STI manifold
Different ecu
Walboro fuel pump
FSE rising rate (1:1.7) Adjustable fuel pressure regulator/fitting kit.
Loads of samcos
The guy hit 408bhp with most of this stuff. Dont want to tune it up and then the bloody pistons/cams go
I wont say the ecu yet as its not 100% its coming in but if its not it will probably be Link ecu.
I think thats it. Clutch will be supplied by Lateral performance.
Cheers John

The STi manifold... is this just off an STi or is it an STi aftermarket expensive special?
Inlet pipe?
Need gauges too - knocklink, EGT, boost, wideband lambda at least to setup.
If you keep the factory rev limit then your heads should be OK. If you want to run to 8000 RPM get STi heads.
STi pistons would probably be more detonation tolerant, but cast pistons can survive a lot of power if you keep things det free.
If you only want 350 BHP I suggest trying it on standard internals. If you want more it is so far a little experimental.

hehe
no you don't need cams, and they are expensive to do anything worthwhile, especially on phase 1 heads where getting some sti3 heads are probably the easiest option.
pistons are worthwhile I think if you're keeping the car a while and want reliability etc.
sti complete engine may be the cheapest/easiest thing to do if you can find one.
link ecu will just about cope with your requirements but will be limited to 1.5bar absolute max. the other ECU is much better for you in terms of functionality. but I still think the easiest and quickest (and cheapest) option is to go the JECS route, but then I am biased.
