Hi I have a dead 93 wrx (grey). I think it is the fuel pump but only just realised where to find it - by searching this site. It was an intermittent prob before it died - so may be connection??? If i need a new unit can anyone advise where to get one?

Cheers

sounds good - how do i know that the problem is the pump? Can I tell by listening for a noise when turning over the engine?

and are there different models of pump - are you sure yours will fit?

Cheers

When you turn the ignition on, you will / should hear a faint buzzing noise which lasts a couple of seconds, this is your fuel pump priming.

A friend installed a Walboro uprated pump in his sti5, somehow there was a dodgy connection which meant the pump kept switching itself off, sometimes his car wouldnt start at all.

well i turned the ignition on and off a few times with my head in the boot. The first couple of times i heard a bubbly noise and then just a sort of dentist drill whizzing. Then she started up just fine. I reckon there must have been an air lock or something. The thing is this has happened a few times now - so maybe i have an air leak somewhere - is this possible?

If sometimes it's not working when you turn the ignition on, you've probably got a loose connection, well worth pulling the whole thing out and checking everything, it doesnt take long, probably about 20 mins tops if you're ok with spanners etc.
