Anybody else experienced this or have any ideas? I have a MY00, and under harsh acceleration, I can hear a very loud, high pitched whisling / squeal. Sounds like it could be a belt, but i have checked them and they appear to be in good condition and tight.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

could be a hose leaking, does it get louder the more throttle you give, if so would check all intercooler hoses for tightlness, splits etc.

Does it sound Like a cats being strangled under your bonnet..

Mine does exactly that and I hear that it is something to do with the power steering pump...maybe check your power steering fluid level

Maybe more like a kitten cos it's pretty high pitched! It really notices in tunnels and enclosed spaces, cos the whisling drowns out all other sounds.

A bit difficult to diagnose from the description. Eg, if it has a Prodrive rear silencer these make a screetching sound when you floor it. Other causes could be a leaking manifold gasket, worn turbo or simply a loose intercooler pipe.

If you are passing, take me out for a spin to hear it.

Actually I have got a prodrive bb fitted, so maybe it is that. I've got it booked in at the dealer on Thurs, as it's still under warranty. If they can't find anything, maybe i'll be in to see you Pete.

Cheers for your help!

Most of the things mentioned here sound like normal turbo noise, is the noise louder when the car is cold?
