Can you test dump valves function?

Since yesterday I've noticed that on WOT I get a 'blowing on the top of a bottle' type noise.I know this is typical of a leaking DV.Is there any way I can make sure.

Can you borrow one from a friends car to see if the noise goes. If you go to a local club someone must have one you can try.
