I have a MY99 Impreza Turbo totaly standard apart from a full decat exhaust, and Blitz dual turbo timer.

Decat made a hell of a lot of difference everywhere but 2nd gear, 2nd gear seems to have no pull, 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th will break your neck when caught at the appropriate revs, but second...........shocking!

Why would the pull in second gear be affected so much by the decat?

I am awaiting a TEK2.5 by John, and am hoping this will sort my problem out?

Any ideas guys

Thanks

Micky

Strange! 2nd gear on a decat should be very useful. 2nd and 3rd in my car are where the performance is. 1st, 4th and 5th aren't so impressive.

Always thought 1st and 2nd had reduced boost setting so the gear box didn't suffer.....

Perhaps someone can confirm?

Micky,

If you are sitting in 2nd gear and holding the revs for a few seconds at around 2500 or 3000rpm and then plant it you will only get half boost because the ECU thinks it's undergoing a MOT test and does this to pass the test. Only does this in 2nd gear. This is built into the ECU. Is this what you're doing?

ScoobySnack,

1st and 2nd do have reduced boost.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

As George says this is the reason for loss of boost in 2nd. It can be avoided by lifting off before flooring it in 2nd.

BTW Micky, I today received 2 ECUs back so I am ready to roll

The boost is not lower in 1st and 2nd by design, just because of the boost control system limitations.
