Hi All,

Is there a difference in oil capacity of early 4 bolt gearboxes and later 8 bolt ones?

I changed the oil on my my00 with early gearbox the other day, and just bunged in 4 litres of oil....just checked the level, it's way over the upper hole when warm....must RTFM to see when I'm supposed to measure it I guess

What damage can overfilling cause? Any chance of oil escaping onto clutch? I just fitted a Forge DV...and got clutch slip

Thanks
Richard

I think you need about 3.5-3.7 litres in the late classic gearbox.

I know mine fitted about 3.6 litres before i got the full mark.

As for early gearboxs i'm not sure.

Mel.
