I presume it includes the transfer box that contains the centre diff, because if it doesnt, using the uk centre will increase the ratio of the rear diff by a factor of 1.1.

Are you sure its a plated rear diff? Stevie turbo swears he has seen a plated r160 size rear diff on every p1 he has opened, but I am not convinced by this. he is the only person to have reported this.

I was of the impression that only the r180 rear diffs were plated, in which case you will need custom driveshafts to engage with the rear hubs on the uk car.

If you could get it to work, I am told that you would find it is more oversteery due to the non progressive lock up nature of a plated lsd compared with the standard viscous unit. This gives it a tendancy to swing from unlocked to locked far more quickly witht he potential to catch you out.

I would consider a quaife rear diff personally, though it may not be on offer.

if your spending the money do it properly and buy a gear kit.. judging by the way you launch your car it wont last.. why waste £500 or so + fitting on the box.. why not spend the little extra so you dont have to change it loads more times..

As DW says, or fit the Sti box. The UK's seem to have a 3rd gear weakness that is not apparent with the Sti's. Bob and Harvey are both running over 450bhp through a Sti 5/6 box IIRC without problems. Harvey has also done some 1/4 mile stuff.
I still believe that a paddle type clutch will destroy a box rather than the power/torque level (says he, about to fit Dave's paddle clutch!)

Andy.F, i wonder if the EXEDY clutch did most of the damage to my (weak and too many teeth) UK box, and my 32 runs at elvington last week finished it off!

think im going to go for a UK replacement box now ive got a normal plate clutch back fitted.

2 P1 diffs, and a few STI rear diffs, that I have personally seen. My local breaker, and a guy that does a lot of work for him has seen, and used a lot of plate type diffs, mostly from STI's
I find it hard to believe that I am one of the few to have seen this.
A VC rear diff looks very similar to an open diff. A plate type diff visually looks entirely different with an almost enclosed cage. Unless there are some VC diffs that do look like this?? and I am perhaps mistaken, but I dont think I am, as I have seen quite a few LSD's other than Subarus.
It is also apparent by these cars having different rear shafts where they go into the diff, from normal VC types.
The R-180 is a different matter altogether, being just a tad larger. If you were to fit the STI bits to your car, you would either need to modify your rear shafts, or get rear shafts from a P1, or an STI estate ( or any STI with sliding rear calipers=small hubs )
