Just fitted a full de-cat exhaust to a MY00 Turbo and was wondering whether I should get the car on a rolling road or take it to a garage to check fuelling etc?

by other peoples experiences, go out and boot the car, and try and take the grin off your face

Wink

1. Run it for a few K miles to get the exhaust nice and coked up.
2. Rev to 3K revs and remove foot, let engine sink to 2K revs and again rev to 3K revs and remove foot
3. Repeat.
4. Grin widely as your car goes Whoosh, Bang, Whoosh, Bang.

Enjoy it!

I've just had a downpipe fitted at H&S (thanks Ian for great service)- car feels much more punchy and has a lovely aggressive exhaust note plus all the whistles and twitters!

One question - when I'm accelerating hard there is a noise a bit like an induction roar although quieter. Is this the wastegate venting to bleed off boost and I just couldn't hear it before on the standard downpipe?

mclark,

a full decat was my first mod on my MY00

peak power went from 226bhp to 258bhp

although i did loose some torque when comparing certain parts of the curve plot.

i later had a TEK2 remap done, this took advantage of the decat and sorted any fueling issues, power then rose to 284bhp, but more importantly the torque curve was higher all through the plot and peaked at 272lbsft

and for the 1/4 mile fanatics like myself...
standard: 14.8sec
after decat: 14.0sec
after remap: 13.1sec

Thumbs up

kevin stanton,

had the TEK2 remap done at Power Engineering near london, not many places do it so you might have to travel, well worth the trip though

took them about 3 hours, most of the time on the rollers getting the car setup, wasnt boosting right before which could have been the decat, it now holds 1.3BAR

on the ecutek website theres a place in norwich that can do the remap, but nobody seems to have had theres done there yet, a bit nearer than london.

thanks
kevin
