Which First Mods ( and how much )
#1
I'm looking to start modding my my00 classic with a new stainless exhaust and perhaps induction kit. Which ones do you guys & gals reckon are a good first start without going over-the-top and how much would I need to spend ?

There are ways and means of sorting that out mate.
But I'd go for just the back 2 parts for now then you can upgrade to the downpipe later if you want. It's less hassle than you think and it's only once a year.
The smiles well outweigh the frowns.
Drop me a mail next week, as my email is up the swanny at the moment and I can give you some pointers.
Cheers

Or...
APS do an affordable (well, relatively ) system with a sports cat - frees the flow up significantly over the oem system, and still MOTable with no hassle. It's not very noisy (compared to others) if that's your thing, though and also it's a whole system or none (ignoring the backbox) as it's made from non-standard exhaust-route bits.

Hi,
Blitz LM is a good cheap induction kit at just over 80 quid.
I run a Blitz SUS (have had an LM before) which is better again but twice as expensive.
Exhaust wise, depends what you want to spend and how loud you want it. Blitz System is awesome but pretty loud. I've just fitted the MRT system which is very quiet indeed but allows excellent flow as it is 3" straight through. I've also tried Magnex which I didn't like, HKS Hiper, which is very similar to the Blitz, good but loud.
I rate the Jap Innovations system highly, as it's reasonably priced and gives excellent flow and sound. I ran 344bhp with this system from a UK car.
Do you want a full decat or just a centre and backbox?
Cheers

A second hand MY99 ECU would help too. You can often swap them with people who are selling their cars. Safe but a nice power gain.
I would leave the standard induction until you're over 300 BHP personally (and did).
Suggest the following for under £500 for about 260 BHP:
MY99 ECU £75 swap with yours
Full decat exhaust - consider a stainless one from For Sale - full systems from under £300.
Boost gauge from £35
Dawes device £50 approx?
Refit the centre section at MOT time - takes 10 minutes or so.
