De-Cat STi 7

Is it safe to de-cat MY01 STi7 including up-pipe/downpipe without
encountering any problems ? vehicle has a apexi back box and electronic boost controller .any info will be appreciated. thanks

According to some experience and monitoring, it is not.
If you leave the maps as is, even if you increase the restrictor to adjust overboosting, the much lower EPB will let the ECU achieve much more boost at part throttle without switching to open loop. Pistons will not appreciate
The v.8 Ecu seems to be more co-operative for reduced EPB as mine is switching from close to open loop above 0.3b/4300rpm, wich ever occurs first.

Don't do this unless you intend to get the car remapped and the boost spiking issues sorted. If you search this forum there is enough data on this to give you a good idea of what's going on.
