Third Cylinder Issue....your opinions please.
#1
I want your thaughts and knowledge for the big issue of third cylinder failure on Subaru engines.
Also I want suggestions for solving the problem.
My personal opinion is as follows:
1.The third cylinder is surrounded by up-pipe, turbo and down pipe so more heat around the cylinder causes bearing failure(more usual), rod bent or melt piston.
2.Unsufficient labrication due to engine design and bearing oilways. Number three cylinder suffers more, because excessive temperatures hurt the lubrication even more.
Suggestions...
Change the turbo routing and use some heatshield,
Use a better oilpump and high quality fully synthetic oil,
Let your engine oil temperatures reach 85C+ before going for full throttle/high rev acceleration and never fully accelerate when oil temperatures are above 110C.
Consider a rebiuld after 60000-80000km depending on how hard you drive your ride...
