The first time i removed them, i used water pump pliers but this tends to ruin the sides of them and is dead obvious due to teeth marks on the injectors where they've been gripped. It wasn't that easy pulling them off either.
Best way i feel is to use a pair of outside calipers. They look like dividers but are curved.
If you can access RS parts, part no: 224-5429 (Book 5, Page 433)will show you what they look like.
Adjust them to fit in the holes at the sides of the injector and then simply pull straight out. No brute strength or fuss required.

Don't know the spec of your car but if std, take the air filter box out the way and the windscreen washer bottle to give you plenty room.
That's them John, the ones in the middle.

Hi Mark
There is a plate on top of the injector with a rubber seal underneath.
Remove the two philips screws and remove the plate.
Make sure you use a good screwdriver though, as they can be tight.
