ECU Tuning options/questions
#1
I'm currently looking at getting either a piggyback type ECU (UTEC or Xede) or a Cobb tuning reflash. What is the main advantage of going with a EcuTek type reflash. I realize that you have control over all the engine parameters and not just fueling, timing, and boost, but does it make that much of a difference.
I live at high altitude (~7000ft), but race at around 2000ft, so I'd like to have the ability to have multiple maps available based on the situation. My car is also a daily driver so I would like to be able to map it for economy for long trips and for smoothness for around town. I guess the big question is can you have your cake and eat it to? Any thoughts from people that use the UTEC or XEDE would be appreciated, as most the peole that are using them in the states don't have much experience.
