hi all. can anyone give us a brief guide to cleaning my cone filter ? it was nice about six months ago but now its covered in grime and dirt. do i use anything special an what about re-oiling afterwards. excuses for sounding thick : )

First of all purchase the K&N recharge kit (solvent and oil).
Follow the instructions and you should be right. Just be careful not to over oil the filter, which a lot of peolple have a habit of doing. This will quickly render your MAF sensor useless.
Spray a light coating on first and leave for several minutes and then then spray over any parts that are aren't a pinky colour.
I usually give the filter a good shaking and then wipe the inside with a lint free cloth just in case there is any excess oil.
