STI 7&8 PPP question
#1
If the free flow exhaust gives the quicker spool up and more power
and the restrictor controls the boost spikes, what exactly does the PPP ecu do.I am refering to the early ones as I know the ecutek
version adjusts fueling, timing and boost.
Thanks
Steve.

Bottom line, the standard car peaks around 1.2 and holds 1.1 tailing off to 0.8 at the redline, the PPP (old Piggyback board based one anyway) peaks at about 1.3, holds about 1.2 and tapers off to about 0.95 at the redline.

not sure what bar it is running but in PSI, my ecutek PPP STi7 peaks boost at 21pis, and drops to about 19.
Today however the outside temp was quite high so peek boost was around 19-20 and dropping to around 18

Mark,
What are you using to read those figures? They sound a little high (unless the new PPP runs a little more boost) as they are:
1.45, 1.3bar and
1.35, 1.24
From the run you did @ PE on Saturday, your car peaked at 1.28bar, held 1.22 and tailed off to 0.85 which is about what I'd expect to see for a PPP.
Ta,
Matt

getting the reading from my autometer boost gauge.
I was reading some other threads here and one mentioned that PPP did 1.5 bar. a friend said that this equates to 20/21 psi, so when I had the gauge fitted it did indeed show 21psi.

AFAIK, the PPP should never boost to 1.5bar (though it will (as will the standard car) if you fit a full decat on it). Like I said, the DD reading (which comes from the ECU) doesn't show anything like this on the dyno and I'd be surprised if this was really the case on the road.....
