TEK Remap with std TDO4L + Exhaust
#1
I have a UK99 with full Scoobysport exhaust, currently this is running with a JB TEK 2.5. I would like to know what is the safe maximum results I could expect if I went for a custom remap with just the exhaust having been modified. I have considered the usual list of must have mods but have come to the conclusion that owning a scoob can lead to vast sums of cash being spent to satisfy an unhealthy desire for more and more performance!!!

I doubt you would get enough to make it worth while. JB used my car almost a year ago to write the TEK 2.5 and on a recent remap he could not run any more ignition without the knocklink getting lively. boost was upped slightly(1psi IIRC) but the first time he mapped the car it was on SUP, now optimax.the fuelling may have been changed as I felt the car was running richer since fitting an uprated pump but he would have to confirm.

JJay,
I've got a Tek3 (mapped by Bob Rawle) on my 99, what sort of boost are you seeing at the moment?
Before I had mine I would hold around 1/1.1 on my Defi's, but now holding 1.25/3 in the same gears. So what that translates to is anyone guess. All I know is it feels much better, and boosts a lot more and picks up better.

I have exactly the same Tek2.5 and full Scoobysport exhaust on my MY00. I also have a K&N 57i induction kit and Samco turbo hoses. I see 17PSI held in 2nd and 3rd and 18PSI held in 4th and 5th. From my emails with John Banks I think this is the highest safe boost you can hope for from a TD04L. To get much more you'd need an equal length manifold, hybrid TD04L or other higher spec turbo.

Warmer weather, small intercooler, small turbo and limited octane all put significant limitations on the map. As always it is a juggling act between boost, fuelling and timing. If you manipulate one to get more power or torque you inevitably have to compromise on the other two unless you change one of the limiting factors or compromise safety margins and reliability. If you want significant extra performance you really have to change the turbo IMHO.
