1.1 bar is too much isnt it?

The car is a jap import 93 wrx. The only engine mod so far is a K and N induction kit + usual use of optimax plus OB.
Surely 1.1 bar is too much??!!!!
Is it an easy job to turn boost down.

Sorry, i forgot to say that this is my second engine which is why i'm concerned. Had detting probs!!
Just about to fit an uprated fuel pump and regulator and once i get past the MOT in May will be fitting 3" downpipe plus Nur spec r exhaust.
Thats why i want to check that i'm not overboosting now!!!

the fuel cut(over boost) is at 1.05 bar on your car so you should be hitting this in 4th and 5th gear!
best to run around 1.0 bar to avoid this
what boost control are you using???

yeah it should!
unless you have an remapped ECU with the fuel cut raised.
or your boost gauge is reading a little high.
your car is standard trim should be running around 0.7/0.8 bar of boost.

1.1BAR in a Jap 93 WRX is not standard. They run approx 0.8bar in standard form.
I would expect there to be a piggyback chip in the ECU, probably from the likes of PROVA.
Open up the ECU and have a look... it will be in the bottom right hand corner...either that or there's a Dawes or Bleed Valve hidden under the bonnet somewhere...
If you have already lost an engine, then I would get the car checked on a RR for Det. If it has been chipped then it may be running far to much advance. A Prova Map that I have a copy of runs 5 degree's more advance at 16.5psi than a standard car runs at 11.5psi...far too much IMHO.

On top of the above advice, I would recommend the fitting of a Knocklink so as you know if the car is detting. Although you can get it checked on the rollers it would be a plus to know what's going on all the time.
