Hello chaps and non-chaps,
This is my first post, but I have been a Scooby owner for about 6 months now. I've been enjoying it, thrashing it, running it at Santa Pod, the odd track day, the usual stuff really. Now, I've got to a point where I want to modify it and the first thing to go has got to be the standard exhaust - it's just too damn quiet. I want a full stainless system from the turbo back, preferably retaining the cat (although I will consider binning that aswell). What I was wondering and if anyone can help me with is what systems are generally best thought of? The main ones I'm considering are Scoobysport, Power Engineering and Graham Goode's. Graham Goode's is noticeably cheaper than the other 2, but I haven't seen anything written on the forum about it. Does anyone out there have any experience of it? Or am I barking up the wrong tree and consider something else instead? Any advise will be gratefully received. Cheers.

first things first, your car has 2 cats fitted, one in the down pipe and one in the middle section.
any performance exhaust you fit will get rid of the middle cat.
to pass an MOT you will need to retain the cat in the down pipe unless you have a friendly MOT man
recommendations - (make sure its stailess) H&S, Magnex and Revolution seem to be the other popular ones but if you want loud go for blitz or HKS(not cheap).
the choice is yours

you won't be disappointed with the bpm td-38 downpipe.. gives excellent results.
one for sale here:

also other bits for sale, such as the hks racing suction kit, which will improve greatly the flow

Also consider at the end of the day its just a hollow pipe so dont go for extreme money cos it wont make any diff to power, secondly get a good back box (4" or above) if you want noise.
Taking the cats of is where the power lays not the make...
Just my opinion m8.
Ps I've got a full revolution decat and it sounds very nice indeed.

Thanks for the advice guys. So it looks like a full de-cat is the way to go in terms of power and noise. I'll look into the other systems you mention. Trouble is, how do you guys get your cars through the MOT? Do you keep your standard pipes and just fit them each year? Or do you have 'friendly' MOT stations nearby?

Regarding MOT,
Keep you original system, find a friendly garage, ask them how much to swap on the original exhaust for MOT and then back off again.
Most won't charge you much and not bother to swap the complete system.
Cost me £57 with MOT, they only changed the centre section, no questions asked
