Unhappy

Took my new car for a good blast today (98 turbo). When I got home and turned the car off there was a very strong smell of smoke.I opened the bonnet and there was smoke coming from the exhaust manifold more so on passenger side. It lasted for a few mins. The car has had piston slap sorted this year so I imagine most gaskets have been changed. I also took off the belt cover and there was no sign of oil or any fluid in there. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Tomski,
Had a similar problem with mine... the smell was also coming through into the cabin. Turns out I had an oil leak and it was dripping down onto the exhaust manifold. Took it to Power Engineering had it checked over and it needed a replacement off-side cam cover gasket.

If a cam cover is leaking onto the manifold/up pipe it will show up if you look down the left hand side of the engine, if you look close enough you will see the burnt oil deposits.
If it is the front crank seal it will show up at the front as the crank seal is located centrally on the front of the engine so the above applies but at the front.
When the front crank seal leaks it normally leaks out of the bottom of the cam covers in the middle.

Hi,

I am getting a similar problem, but no smoke, Everything is fine but when I push the car quite hard, after a while I get this smell come into the cabin which I assume is of oil, but when opening the bonnect after stopping there is no smoke. I know I have an oil leak somewhere as it drips on the driveway (Much to my dads dismay)

Is it usual for the smell not to be noticable upon normal driving but come throu to the cabin upon hard driving?
