Unhappy

I own a new STI which I have found to have fuel contamination in the oil. Has anyone else had experience of this and if so where from. I have my own theories on this matter but would like other opinions.

Most likely cause is overfuelling. This over time will also cause the bores/rings to wear excessively, compounding the problem.

If you're suffering for high oil consumption, the rings/bores may already be worn. If not, get the car re-mapped.

apparantly the sti ecu squirts in about 13% more fuel than it needs to aid cooling of the pistons. we were told on a course that there will be no warrantys paid out for melted pistons because it means that the extra fuel part had been altered for more power which then causes the pistons to melt! so maybe thats how your getting fuel in the oil it's the extra fuel .

Scoobyboy,

Interesting comments, when you consider the damage oil contaminted with fuel can cause, such as premature bore/ring wear/piston slap/pistons picking up, melting, oh, and oil film break down, causing the mains, or big ends to pick up, premature wear of all the other internal moving parts..............

Think I'll take my chances with a re-map.....
