Probably depends on a few factors such as full dealer service history and modifications. Cars running higher than standard power may be placing additional stresses on the clutch / gearbox / transmission, although I think that these components can cope quite happily with the extra power.

You would need to check the service records to ensure that around that mileage the big things have been seen to: Clutch, possibly Turbo replaced, Cambelt. This will avoid landing you with a bill for up to £2k if ALL should fail.

Saying this, I have a UK 95 turbo, with 116,000 miles, running 260bhp on the standard clutch for 2 years - the turbo was replaced 40k ago as was the cam belt - the car has never missed a beat and runs perfectly.

Turbos can, I believe, be good for anything between 100 - 150k depending on use (warmed up / cooled down etc).

High mileage is less attractive but shouldn't be dismissed at all.

Rear wheel bearings tend to need doing around 100k, (cost is £260 in parts & similar for labour.)

I'd get the coils checked as well as they have a tendecy to break down on older models. There are numerous threads on coilpacks causing misfiring. These aren't cheap from Subaru but the Bosch coils are a better option. See my other thread in drivetrain.

I've got a MY95 that has had all it's servicing done & has recently had the cam belt, clutch & coils done. Runs like new & has a very reliable 311BHP
