Knocklink - Urgent Wiring help
#1
Hello,
I am trying to fit a knocklink sensor. I have the positive and negative wired to the device and when the ignition is on the green power light is lit on the meter.
However, I have bolted the kocklink sensor to the engine and have connected ONLY pin 1 to the black wire to the knocklink sensor and I only have the first green light lit all the time on the meter.
I have tried connecting the brown lead to pin one as well, but this is the same.
Which wire do i use to the sensor? do i use both? or do i just only use one? brown or black? is the sensor already earthed and i only need one wire?
Please help...
Cheers,
Mark

Cant remember the colours when i fitted mine, but the two wires i think black and brown i crimped both the connectors to these and then plugged both into the bosch sensor and then ran the other to the ecu output and spliced into the wire there.
The green will always stay on low lite to tell you thats theres power and you should get a small flash on start up.
Have left mine on max sensitivity to make sure of any noise.

Thanks for the info... But,
I have a BRdevelopment knocklink sensor.
The red/black are for + - on the meter. (this works- lights lit for power and the first light flashes brite when the ignition is turned on)
Then there is a black and brown wires to goto the knocklink sensor which is bolted to the engine block.
I was told that only one wire is needed to goto pin 1 on the sensor, and that it does not matter which on is used?
when all connected (black or brown) as it should be, I get no meter led lights lit at all, even on maximum sensitivity.
How can i check the knocklink sensor is working?
Please help...

both the black and brown must be connectad to the sensor, get a large spanner or end of a ratchet and bang the block next to the sensor, should get lights but you will have to hit it quite hard

brdevelopments only supplied me with one connector for the sensor though ;-(
Will ring them on Monday... but they did say that it was a one wire sensor?????????????
Confused... with non working knocklink! ;-/
Why is the simpliest jobs always the longest jobs!?
Im going to wash the car instead... At least it only involves water!!! ;-)

Cheers again Scott,
Yep, that is exactly the same sensor i have...
Will phone Bob on Monday and will let you know what he says...
And maybe he will have to send me the second crimp on connector for pin 2...???
Cheers for the photo ;-)
