Can u stick a 6 speed box into a classic?

Just wondered. Not sumin kud even contemplate affording now or probably in near future but looking at getting type R version 4 or 5 where i note many people have changed final ratio of 5th gear since it's geared so low down as standard etc (different with V limited?)
Anyway back on track how easy (read expensive) wood it b 2 stick sum sort of (from bug eyed un?) 6 speed box in the old classic style scoob?
I guess/presume it wood b a fair wack on the ole ££ front but was a bit intreged

Now that is guna b a beast m8 Obviously yers if far from standard anyhow but does the STi7 6 speed effectively just slot into place as it were or is it far more complicated than that from a size etc point of view?

Location: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?

Reverse is selected by a cable.. the linkage is different..
The propshaft needs to be shortened (or use an impreza auto one)
the rear diff needs to be 3.9:1 as well
UK and Jap boxes are different..
Box mounting points are supposed to be the same...
erm.. erm.. oh and its huge.

It's too long 4 me lol
Sounds very interesting but not cheap i shall have 2 do further saving after i've upgraded motor then I shall eagerly watch yer developments

It can be done, and has been done.. as someone who posts on here has done it..
I am doing it at the moment.. box will be in this week all being well..
