How much Gearbox oil?

Hi,
I'm going to have the gearbox oil in my car changed, MY97 Catalunya. I was just wondering how much to buy? I've done a search and some people say 3.5 litres, some say 4 litres depending on the year of the car. Does anyone know how much an MY97 should take?

Can get four in a MY00 gearbox, which I gather is virtually the same.... best to be more full. T-uk wondered if the oil level being on the low side could be one factor in 3rd gear failures because of the position - I think he has a good point.
