Have you tried Hayward and scott??
If not, try and find your nearest 'POWERFLOW' exhaust centre, My local place said that they can bend any diameter pipe up to 4"
Just thought, Mandrel bending may be a different way of bending
They basically have an industrial pipe bender for making custom exhausts..

David,
Try Iracroft LTD in Dorset Tel - 01258 486300.
I worked for them some year's ago as a pipe bender,
up to 6inch diameter.
Good luck
Mike...

Finding a mandrel bender that size would be lucky! That machine could cost over a hundred grand! Thats why no one has one locally. My mate makes truck exhausts around 4 inch. Its done by spinning/ metal forming 2 doughnut shaped plates and then welding them together, this makes a perfect doughnut which is cut into segments to make the required angle of bend. This is then welded onto a straight length and so on until the complete exhast is made. This is how all truck exhausts are made because it is easier/cheaper than mandrel bending. Normal bending on a 3-4 inch pipe would probably cause it to collapse. Why do you want so big? Isnt there a company called jasma that do huge bore exhausts? Forgot to say, my mate only uses mild steel!

David,
Seem to remember there was a guy in Leeds called Tony Law who used to make custom made exhaust systems . Don't know if he's still in business but I do know his work was highly regarded . Might be worth tracking down . Sorry no phone no. but someone on Scoobynet might be able to help.

Regards,
John

Not sure if this helps, but have you tried a local industrial pipe fabricating company. They possible will be able to something and they will have worked with thicker sided larger diameter pipes.

Its just a thought

what you need is a company that makes street furniture lamposts etc I deal with a few and i'll see if I can find one near you.

Fair bet that there will be a company in Shefield

David we use a couple of companies to bend large quantities of mild steel but i imagine they wouldnt have a problem doing stainless.
The two companies are T.H.E who are in Leeds and Roll master rings who are in Shefield.
I can get some phone numbers if you want but i suspect they will only be open during the week as well.
We "can" do it where i work but as we send most of our work out to be bent its got to tell your some thing

Andy
