Question

Could anyone give me the correct procedure for bolting the heads back onto MY95 Wrx ra. Ive been told to old the main bolts before hand,I thought oiling the head bolts would cause problems for the torque wrench in reading the correct torque? is this right or wrong please help

I can tell you the procedure for the UK pre-97 car..

Oil all washers and bolt threads.

Order of the 6 bolts is:
1 is top middle
2 is bottom middle
3 is top left
4 is bottom right
5 is bottom left
6 is top right.

Tighten bolts in that order to 29Nm.

Then tighten to 69Nm in same order
back all bolts off 180degrees in the same order
and again another 180degrees backing off...

Then tighten to 29Nm in the same order..

then tighten them a further 80 to 90degrees in the same order!

then tighten them a further 40 to 45degrees in the order that you now know off by heart

and yet again another 40 to 45degrees..

Job done..

Assuming the bolts are the same on the RA then the procedure should be the same..
