Strange vibration

On my way home from work today, I noticed that my car (MY98 5 door Turbo) had started doing 2 wierd things.
1. When pulling up at junctions the revs were really dropping, to as little as 500 rpm, then they would hunt a little, and settle back at the normal 800-900 rpm.
2. When making the car accelerate from low revs 1500rpm, in 4th gear, upto about 2000-2200rpm, there is a vibration, almost as if the engine is running rough, although it is not noticable in any other gear.
As an aside, yesterday was spent changing the back box over from , standard, to Scoobysport, then to TSL to try them both for sound level inside the car. Could this be responsible for it now that the standard box is back on ?
Any suggestions appreciated.
