HKS Hiper Bung picture.....encase you wondered
#1
Took a picture just for anyone that is interested in seeing what a tailpipe bung looks like, as I was.
I just presumed they were a circular plate with the hole at the end of the tailpipe, didn't realise they had the extra pipe and other bit.
What a decent neighbour fitting this for my new earlier morning starts.

It is between 5-6dB quieter with it in. Can make the difference between making it onto track or not.
The inner pipe is 60cm.....there is a little additional constriction - however there is already a restrictor inside the Hiper backbox that is 60cm.
On my car there is a slight loss at the very top end with the bung in.

haven't fitted it yet, rested it in there to see what it looked like, looks dodgy, but should stop the neighbours getting bothered.
mega, did you get a hiper?
edited to say, who noticed my new self made leather gaitor that sneaked into shot

Nice leather work
Yup, well I got my old Hiper coming back from my old car , Lanman is having the Scoobysport one that didn't fit on my car.
Shame as I did like the sound of it didn't like the knocking noises it made though...
I'm hoping it won't be too loud as I'm keeping the standard downpipe on, I really found it too loud when I was running it full decat.

David, loss at the top end?
I found that when running with the bung in I lost more at the bottom end, slugging turbo spool up and descimating the mid range...but at the top end, particularly when using the car on track, it wasn't an issue...

Mega, You should be fine with the standard d/p as far as the noise goes. I've just been running mine with the standard d/p on because of MOT and it's a lot quieter, dunno how you can have the standard d/p though, just put my new open neck on and the standard is so bad it's unreal, so much better now. The open neck d/p is better for noise than the hks one i had supprisingly, hks one gave a real pounding in your head.

I'm keeping catted as I don't want to fork out on a remap just now, and a decat STi5 isn't recommended unless the fuelling's changed.
