Can anyone tell me what the torque rating is of the AP Organic clutch kit is? Ive been quoted a price on an equivalent that seems too cheap to be an equivalent, if you know what i mean?!
So i want to compare what i can to see if im being sold a load of cr@p.
Cheers

310lbft does not seem very much, think the Lateral Performance one is 450 lbft which is more than any synchro gearset for the Subaru is rated AFAIK, this is what I was planning to go for.
I can confirm that the standard clutch is enough to kill a gearbox through torque alone (not missed gears) and that my standard one seems fine with an estimated 360-370 lbft, at least it has been for a while. Never a hint of slip.

Maybe 310lbs/ft is a "Continuos" rating limit which of course in the real world would not happen,if thats so then perhaps that's why a standard clutch can survive high torque figures for a relativey short time although probably shortening it's useful life considerably. If anybody out there knows the real facts then I'd be very interested to know.

Truth is that AP state a specification that all the clutches of that type they make will meet, however there is a distribution of performance as with any make or type of product. I am using an AP organic and my car is running a dyno'd 390 ft lb (at PE) with an AP22 confirmed torque of 417 ft lb (still sense checking that although its peaking torque 700 rpm earlier than on the rollers so maybe) and to date its holding up. I do have a 600 ft lb replacement in the pipeline ready for when it does go though.
I have always shredded my std clutch in whatever car in very short order, I have also had upwards of 12 or more go on me during a mapping session, even the std STi clutch is a very accident prone animal. Something to allow for when increasing performance. Also the flywheel normally ends up damaged and either needs skimming or replacing.
cheers
