how much depth on the new clutchs

sorry to be dumb but the grooves on a new clucth are about how deep?
mate has a second hand one done 20,000 miles,
wonderd how much was left on it????
he is giving me sti clutch/flywheel and fitting it for £100
so is this the way to go????????
