Hi all quick question,
I have a mate who works for a road side recovery company, ( he's a very nice man)He has been tweaking cars for years and we were chatting about decatting my car 95 wrx. He said its possible to just smash up the cat honeycomb in the centre pipe, basically giving you a straight through pipe.
I can see the logic behind this but am reluctant to try it out, any one ever tried it or know if it will work as he expects?
I know it wouldn't be as good as a straight through pipe from TSL or ScoobyWorld, but it could be a hell of a lot cheaper to do.

Krade,
It can be done that way yes, but the only problem is come MOT time.
If you buy a decat centre hten at least you can get your centre cat put back in for the MOT emissions test.
One of my friends did this with his downpipe with success. He also made it open necked as well like the scoobysport/hayward & scott, he's quite handy with a welder though.
Cheers
Iain

Thanks Iain, may aswell go for the decat pipe and store the old one as I'd only have to buy a catted version When I sell the car.

But come MOT time, it's far easier to whack a catted centre on than a d/p
A decent d/p which doesn't present a brick wall to the wastegate is a better idea anyway, but removing the internal cat is a valid option for countries where removing such things is criminal offense leading to license loss
