Overboost
Hi, Can anybody help me with a bit of advice?
I've just bought a 99MY UK turbo with 30,000 miles, standard as far as i know. Under full throttle in higher gears, the acceleration pulses in time with the turbo whoosing loud then quiet. After fitting a boost gauge i've found that initialy it climbs to about 1.4 Bar then drops to 1bar then climbs again to 1.3bar then drops and settles just above 1bar. According to the supplying dealer, this is normal and i'm just not used to it!!! Is this normal? if not, any thoughts on the cause and what kind of boost levels should i expect
Thanks in advance
Dave

It's not normal!
What you should see is the boost reach it's maximum the slightly fall off and hold steady.
1.4 bar seems a lot of boost for a standard car though???
