Is this bad?

I previously only got overboost on my MY95 WRX saloon following exhaust and induction kit mods. This was cured with a Unichip.

Is there anything I can do to stop it happening to this MY94 WRX wagon without resorting to a different ECU.

Why would this happen if the car is standard?

too much oil in the engine, check the dipstick; There are three marks on it low-full-full when hot. When you engine is cold it may not go upon the full mark !!!
Clean the solenoid, problem solved .

Thumbs up

Yep. located on the off side suspension mount. There are plenty of threads on cleaning if you do a search.

Could also be a loose / cracked boost pipe between boost control, turbo and wastegate.

Cleaned the solenoid and still have the problem in every gear except first although its ok once I get over 5000 rpm

Will check for loose/cracked boost pipe - anything else I could try?
