I have a fully services 70k mile UK MY99 with an 8 month old new engine from Subaru. Heads, full engine, oil pump etc were renewed 8 months ago (long story).

In 5 months, my oil level has dropped from just under full (at service) to well under the low mark (but still showing at base of dip stick). I had checked the oil level for the first few months and it did not seem to have changed, but was shocked to find how low it was since my last check.

I have no oil leaks or visible smoke or emissions problems.

The difference between empty (on dip stick) and full appears to be a litre.

Is it usual for 300 miles a week of hard driving for a total of 6000 miles to consume a litre ??? Is there anything I can check ?

I am a bit paranoid after the engine failure(s), hence the question...
