Question

Trying to fit a quick shift and had an hour or two trying to get the ball joint from the old stick out today but with no joy!!! Anyone got any neat tricks up their sleaves to help me get it out? There's got to be a knack to it or a special tool or something?

Cheers for any help

Maffa,

not 100% sure, but from what Katana's said, they're probably a C-clip holding the ball in , so it dont fly out when you rench for second
you might be able to get it out with some small pliers . but there are special tools !

what QS is it ?
tried to get a Rally Design one, but they've sold out & wont have any for ages ! damn my silly MY of car !

2 small screwdrivers squeezing the rings together should do the trick..

Window was sorted yesterday!! Was due to be fixed on Tuesday but they brought the wrong colour glass, then on Thursday the new glass broke in transit. Finally they said it would be done yesterday morning so I went to Iain's (My car's been in his garage since Sunday) at 11am & they arrived at 5.30pm B*@#ards!!!!!

Bet that thing's gonna be a pain to get out & back in again!!! Best have a go now then

cool ! & good luck !
I have the tool if you need it and dont manage to get it done!
also - they have a tendancy to 'ping' everywhere! so be careful you dont loose it ! or poke yourself in the eye !

That happened to me already when trying to remove the centre console. I've got a crappy rubber gaiter & the console needs removing to get it back on again!!!! One of the little plastic thingys went into my face & magically disappeared in that tiny gap below the handbrake What's the probability of that

Thumbs up

Visit here then download the DG Rallying document that has pic's on removing the gearstick to carryout the mod to quickshift. Sure you could use the instructions for the removal & replacement of gearstick

PS - Just looked at this again and it may not help you but you never know.
