Ive asked this question in ref to my own car (MYOO Turbo) and a lot of people seem to like Castrol RS 10/60 Fully Synth. Its for sale in Scoobyshop (under fluids) for about £21 for 4 ltrs. However you need 4.5 ltrs for a scoob oil change.

Im not sure whether all this is the same for an STI7 though.

Simon.

David, you'll need 4.7 litres.Pick one of;Castrol 10/60 or Motul 3000v 15/50 or Mobil 1 15/50.By the way I'm bloody jealous of your numbers on the RR! Having a little problem with mine at present, but I'm sure Pat will sort it out.

Perhaps too late now, but I would suggest one of the following: Shell, Motul, Amsoil or Redline oils. Personally, I wouldn't use Mobil 1 as a running in oil for a lawn mower, never mind a high performance engine. If you have used it, I'de recommend that you do not drive the car hard, and replace it at the very earliest opportunity. I've yet to hear a single good word about it from any engine builder, and I've seen with my own eyes bearing material come out of an engine with the oil; others have reported complete engine failures. At least one engine builder I know will void the warranty on an engine if Mobil 1 is used.

With regard to Deep's car, there appear to be some gremlins which aren't map related, but are preventing the car from running optimally; we believe we've identified them and the problem should be resolved shortly.

Just changed mine and popped in Motul 300v 10W40 and I'm going to do an oil analysis at the end.

x Recommendations were - any track work / _lots_ of hard driving 15w50.
x Street use / occasional blat through the hills 10W40.

Subaru service said 10W30!

Adam,

if you carefully read the service manual it suggests 20W50 for "arduous use", which in my mind would include long trips towing something, or of course track days / enthusiastic driving.

Cheers,

Pat.
