i hear noises coming probably from the center diff.
if anyone experienced problems with the center diff how did you solve them? car you service it or replace it.
my car is a STi type R v-limited MY1999

in which conditions are you hearing the noise?

is it all the time?

only when the diff is in the locked position?

when sharp turning or reversing?

 

at around 2500-6000 rpm
at any gear and any condition

 

have you read and understood how to set your centre diff control??
