Guy's.
I'm thinking of doing the three yr service on my car, well, all bar the cambelt, all the rest is easy, right?
I'm very capable, the trikiest thing I see is the sparkplugs, is it do-able? and would I gain by using different plugs, The car os my00, with full de-cat, and panel filter, no other engine mods,
I would of course use a betteroil, in both engine and transmission, I'm guessing the fuel filter's easy aswell is it?
All help welcome.
Cheers.
Ron.

I would take it to TSL or somewhere Ron. There are so many little trick the trained mechanics know, which we dont. Priming filters, torque settings etc. Not that I doubt your skill though!

Ron,
Do it yourself, you will save more than that stamp is worth,it is all easy to do and the plugs are simple, you need a good socket set,it looks like you cant get in but there is plenty of room really, the fuel filter is about £35 from subaru so look on the net as i've seen it loads cheaper at some of the scoob sites or check out ya local factors.

Your car is surely not due plugs or cambelt being a 2000MY? According to the schedule in my hand book the 45,000 is the same as a 15000. Plugs and cambelt are changed at 60000. I just paid Vales £170 for this service (not including oil). With no warrenty to worry about I'd be inclined to do it myself, it's not exactly rocket science is it?
BTW, thanks for the offer but on I'm shift on the 8th so can't make it to the RR shootout, next time praps.

Well, my book says plugs at 30/2yrs, and cambelt at 45/3yrs.
So, im gonna get the Belt done, and do the rest myself with better oil etc than the dealer would use!

I reckon you've got a 99MY hand book (cam belt interval is definately 45000 on the '99 and before) , the date on the back of mine is March 2000, I can't believe they changed the interval half way through the model year. Check with Vales before spending lots of cash.
