As subject really - a friend with a my99 and stuffed 4th synchro has a chance to get a my01 gearbox cheaply. Does it go straight in, or is it a similar job to the STi 6-speed?
Thanks

the 6speed is a pain in the **** as it is longer due to the 6th gear, I would check the transfer box ratio as you may need to play with the rear diff..
also linkage may be different depending on how a my01 goes into reverse.

All the 5speeds are interchangeable. Just make sure you get the correct diff ratio to suit, and also that the ransfer box is the correct ratio. Jap/UK cars are different, so get a matching box.
More info on the 6speed will be coming soon hopefully.

Cheers Stevie
The 19 yo son of a boss of a large Subrau dealership here has just managed to burn out his my01. It's scrap value to them....
My friend takes the gearbox/rear diff & I'm having the motor, turbo and i/c. Anybody interested in anything that's left (that isn't damaged by an interior fire - interior is apparently gutted)?
Anyone konw of engine differences between classics and fuglies? Didn't I hear rumours the bottom end was stronger (was it Frank.M from Germany that fitted one to his classic?).
Thanks
Richard
