OK, I've just refitted my oem downpipe for MOT purposes (replacing the Scoobysport one) and found that I have no lambda sensor (I've blanked the hole off so it doesn't blow). Problem is, even if I did have a sensor, I can't see where it would plug in to any wiring.

My questions are:

Are my emissions likely to be anywhere near legal with just the cat and no sensor?

What are the likely effects of running with no lambda sensor once the Scoobysport pipework is back in place?

TIA

i take it you fitted the system whilst you were in ownership. if someone else did it for you then ask them i guess.
i am having a similar problem, i wonder if you can help?

i am just about to fit a decat full scoobysport system myself to my 93 wrx wagon- bought it s/h. wanted to know wether or not the hole at the bottom of the down pipe is for the lambda sensor? the hole is blanked off on the scoobysport downpipe, therefore do assume that you just don't use it?

sorry to hijack your thread notorious rev, but it sounds like you have some experience with fitting this mod. as regards the mot emissions, maybe find a friendly tester !

cheers weava

I actually bought the car with the system fitted, but got the standard exhaust as part of the deal.

On my Scoobysport downpipe, there's a hole with a blanking plug near where it bolts up to the turbo, but it's much bigger than the lambda sensor hole in the oem (which is just after the cat). I'd originally assumed this was for a lambda sensor or possibly an EGT sensor?

As for fitting, well if it's been fitted with different sized nuts and bolts all over the place like mine has it could be a nightmare (some bugger had decided to put a locknut on the most inaccesible bolt holding mine on and used chewed up nuts so that a 13mm spanner wouldn't fit on them properly ) but the rest of it should be a breeze

Aha, looks like tweenierob answered part of my question in your thread MW:

94WRX's do not have a Lambda sensor in the downpipe it is mounted in the headers/manifold..
What they do have is a 'Cat on fire' sensor which is normally disgarded when fitting a Decat DP..
When your Standard DP is removed, unplug the wire that goes to the sensor at the bottom of the DP and tie it out of the way...
Scoobysport downpipes used to come with a hole near the top of the DP which is for UK cars which have the Lambda sensor in the top of the STD DP, Jap owners normally get this hole blocked by welding it closed, or screwing in a bolt to block it...
