Red face

can someone help me,i have just bought a magnex centre de-cat pipe with small muffler.after surfing several subs sites on the net i find magnex also do a de-cat pipe without the muffler.should i have gone for this one or would it be to loud.i also have a powerflow back box already fitted.it is not to late for me to change it.any suggestions,i would be grateful.my car is
99my standard turbo with k&n induction kit, also would a dump valve stop the air being dumped through the filter making a hissing noise rather than an induction roar.

as far as I can make out you have a centre pipe with a resonator.I went for the one without the resonator,it is slightly louder not too much and cheaper

The one without the resonator is slightly louder and less restrictive so maybe 0.5bhp more .

A non resenated one would of been a better buy, because of
the price difference, if you can wait then I would change
it for the cheaper one and then buy something else with
the £60ish you got leftover!!!!!!

I think i got quite a good buy at £35 for the decat pipe with resenator, its been stuck on shelf at local halfords for 12 months & has a small dent in resonator box.i origonaly wanted to change the system for a better sound but i am not sure if this will be noticeable enough what do you think subsy.

At that price why dont you stick it on the car and find out
for yourself, if it makes a little difference (which it will)
it will be worth having, and you did have a very good deal!!!!

There is no performance difference, but the noise is quite significant. I have non resonated, which is quite loud. Also aids flames with a full decat. The resonator allows room for expansion, so less flameage, if that bothers you

Maybe less flames but flames none the less. I have no complaints with my Magnex resonated centre section and the pyrotechnic display can be quite impressive or so I have been told.

fitted centre magnex decat with resonator today, froze my nuts off outsde in minus tempatures.what a waste of time no sound difference at all. also have powerflow backbox which was already fitted to the car when i bought it.any ideas how to make it sound nice without removing the main cat. Will a smaller back box work.somethink like a blitz or HKS.By smaller i mean somethink like a cherrybomb design,or will just replacing the centre section for magnex decat pipe without the resonator make that much difference?????????

without the resonator it wont make that much difference,if you want a louder system, change the backbox,Blitz,Scoobysport,HKS will do.I have recently fitted an Afterburner back box with my magnex De-Cat centre, with some help I mite add,Thanks Andi(without resonator)and it sounds feckin menthol.
Very Loud!!!!

I ran a decat down pipe and magnex 6x4 back box with standard centre for a while, when I first got my car.at a rolling road day it was actually louder than a similar car with resonated magnex centre.this made me get the straight through which sounded great.

All the big boys are for sale in the scoobynet shop :

http://shop.scoobynet.co.uk/Category...yName=Exhausts

Worth a plus membership fee for that alone.

Scoobyworld sell the afterburner. I have an older scoobysport (now 4 years old ) one and the sound is still great. The scoobymania ones sounds really good and the TSL Firestorm is a lovely piece of kit and also sounds the business.

Hello Subsy

I will swap my straight thru magnex centre for your resonated centre if you like, I am getting tired of the noise which is very loud with my scoobysport backbox.

Everyone mentions how good these exhausts sound but has anyone got a good sounding system without taking off the cat from the turbo downpipe.this seems a pain to keep replacing every time the MOT comes round, and is also a hefty fine if found without one on a roadside check by the law.

got a ppp backbox, replacing my ppp decat mid section (with resonator) with magnex str8 through (decat without resonator) replacing standard downpipe with a ggr sports cat downpipe, getting it done on tues so ill post the results of the performance cat downpipe, expensive but apparently you get in inc in bhp spoolup etc and itll pass the mot emissions
