I've acquired an 02 STi (6 months old with 4000 miles) - no mods...yet. It develops a strong burning smell in reverse gear. Any clues before I take it to the dealer(its under warranty), so I can begin to sound like I know what I'm talking about?

get the same on my 02 wrx. As have several others. Seems pretty common, let me know if the dealer thinks its a problem??

 

I reckon it's exhaust fumes being sucked up the aircon 'cos you're reversing over them!

 

Nope, I know the smell of burning clutch when I catch a whiff...
