more power from wrx
J Bee - in exactly the same position as you at the moment, got 2.5K miles on the clock now of my 02 WRX with PPP and am looking for a little bit extra. I've come from a 4Motion Golf which as a V6 had good low down torque so I'm missing this on the motorway partitularly.
I'm looking into a de-cat centre section as the next thing, perhaps a K&N panel filter also - don't want to go too far and seriously affect warranty (think I would argue the toss with a de-cat centre fitted).

Decatting reduces lag, but you will never got the bottom end of a 2.8 V6 on a low compression 2.0 four. If you seriously modify your car you will only make it more laggy, but from 3500 to 7000 RPM it goes mad. Just need to stir the gearbox a bit or accept lower power. Or switch to a 2.5
Thanks John, looking on one of the rolloing road graphs I see that someone with PPP and a centre de-cat is getting a much flatter torque curve earlier on in the range i.e. 3000 rpm rather than just about 4000 rpm.
My hope is that this translates to better motorway cruising at around 3000 rpm'ish?
This is all relative of course, the thing is fast....and it loves the a and b roads around here!

Lucky strike,
the PPP decats the centre section. The next best thing to do is the up pipe or downpipe. I have an My01 with PPP, and when i decatted the downpipe I was quite astonished as to how much lag was reduced. I hope this helps
