My ITG panel filter has been in about 33k - and I've had no problems (was in when bought the car).

I have been to various vendors' websites and am getting a mixed message, which one is correct?

Scoobyworld:
"The filter never requires cleaning and should last around 30k miles"

ScoobySport:
"we recommend that your ITG is replaced every 30,000 miles"

TSL Motorsport:
"The ITG also has a lifetime warranty, requiring only a clean every 30,000 miles."

I also read other peoples concerns about over-oiling of new filters and the possible sensor failures that could result. Am wondering whether to go back to standard paper filter. As I have only ever driven with the ITG and Scoobysport back box - will I be disappointed if I return to the paper filter?

Cheers,
Jon.

Thumbs up

I just took my ITG filter out to check it after 15000Km and besides a little "goo" in the front right corner of the air box(when looking towards the rear of the car) it looked fine. I wiped out the "goo" and turned the filter 180 degrees around and put it back.

I have read all sorts of posts about the ITG and MAF Sensor failures due to the "goo" getting on the sensor but that seems impossible to me as the sensor is on the "clean" side of the filter down stream and the "goo" collects on the dirty side of the filter in the air box.

Mabey if the filter was not installed properly this could happen.

I will "knock wood" and see how the filter is in another 10,000 Km or so.

The car operates in 32 degree outside temps all the time as it lives in the Caribbean!!
