The bad news is my engine gave up the ghost (big end).

The good news is it gives me the perfect excuse to build a very strong engine from scratch.

The car is a MY95 with a hybrid rollerbearing turbo (MD270), Unichip and decat Mongoose exhaust plus Power Engineering equal length headers.

I'd like to be looking at power of close to 350bhp and as much torque as possible but I'd also like it to be reliable and drivable rather than just having a steep power curve from 5000 to 7000 rpm.

What should I be looking to budget to spend on an engine with strong internals plus oil cooler and fuel pump?

Do any of you have any recommendations as to what I should be getting internals wise?

I'm assuming I can use an engine from an STI of the same MY. To put in a later STI model engine I've been told would require a lot more work including a new loom etc...

I've also seen threads on a 2.2 conversion. Thoughts?

Any recommendations as to who I could speak to about building this?
Cheers

Ben

I would recommend Mark as well, and if you are looking for someone to do the work rebuilding the engine I would recommend Dave at Risboro 4 Wheel Drive. His labour rates are lower than most, and he did a very good job on mine (which was a far from straightforward job) 01844 274652

If you are looking at anything other than a standard 2.0l rebuild then I would also recommend Mark - he can discuss a number of options with you and help you find the the best people to help you.
