Don't know which type to go for.
What are the differences between the two I.E ( BHP and TORQUE ).
With or without a sports cat.
Which manufacturer
HKS
MAGNEX
POWER ENG
GRAHAM GOODE
APS
BLITZ
J W RACING
SCOOBY SPORT

I would like more torque than BHP if possible.

Err, torque & BHP are pretty well interlinked.
But if you're after more power low down, a bell-mouth is better than a twin-dump. You're lucky there, as choice of a bell-mouth is a lot less critical than the choice of twin-dump.
The Hayward & Scott DP has probably the most reliable good results, but pretty much any of them should do the job. It's a question of price & availability with the bell-mouths!

Much as I like it (as you know) the APS downpipe wouldn't suit you, as it's 3" at the flange - only the backbox is modular, so it's pretty much the whole system or nothing. HKS is, IIRC neither bellmouth or twin dump - it doesn't have an opening behind the wastegate, so probably not the best.

If you want low down torque, you could probably find someone locally who'd swap you for a TD04 - they spool up much quicker than your big turbo.

Heyward and Scott/Scoobysport - good but very noisy

BPM - quiet, good top end, slower spool up

HKS - personally would not use it - noisy and potentially poor gas flow

Just from some personal experiences.

I had the HKS on my MY00 for about 6 weeks, and changed it for the Hayward & Scott/Scoobysport for a couple of reasons.

The HKS downpipe I got at a very good price (fitted by one of the Subaru tuning firms in the UK) that I could not refuse. It is hard for me to compare the noise levels between the the HKS and the H&S/SS as I added a de-cat center section at the same point.

One think i did find with the HKS downpipe was that it was actually slightly too short, and meant that the exhaust ststem ended up being pulled back, leaving the tailpipe just under the bumper.

Thanks for the replies lads.
There is just so many types available it's tough to pick one.
I want to get the best quality d/p that gives a good increase in torque and bhp for a good price, but then don't we all.

Phil I'll pop round and have a chat with you maybe over the weekend.

Thanks Arron.

This is what i was unsure about. After ages, i found it was either the HKS or Scoobysport. The more i spoke to people the more i found they had HKS but moved to Scoobysport and found it much better. Thats why ive just ordered my Scoobysport Atleast you know people have had it and are impressed with it

Thumbs up

I've got the Magnex DP. Last year I had a full magnex system with no resonator and a friend with the same setup, except his was full ScoobySport.

We both had our cars dyno'd the same day, one after the other. Mine got 266bhp and 257lb/ft and his got 268bhp and 252lb/ft. Hardly anything in it at all but would point to the twin dump DP from Magnex giving slightly more torque and the SS giving slightly more BHP.

Sure, its not conclusive but shows theres really f all difference between twin and open neck. Another plus is the Magnex is considerably cheaper
