I have recently fitted a Scoobysport back box to my MY00. I informed my insurance company and they asked how much extra power does it give me... any ideas ?

Also if I fitted a decat centre section at a later date what would the increase be then ?

Thanks

Question

It depends on who your insurance co is really but a full decat can give you as much as 30bhp.
Insurers like Tesco for instance will quote you power gains in percentage, you will fall in the 10-20% bracket in this case.

I got adrian flux to agree to no charge for the exhaust, which is DP and backbx, I said possibly 10% power increase, and lived with it. Increase for 25% increase wasn't much either, can't remember, but something like £60pa.

They have put the backbox on its own in the upto 10% power increase category.

What I'm really after is what increase will it have given me (with no other engine mods) and what increase will I get on top of this if I put a decatted centre section on ?

Will the backbox and centre section (not downpipe) still be below 10%? For example will the backbox give me 5bhp (ie a 2%-3% increase) and the centre section another 5bhp (a total of 4%-6% increase)?

Your numbers sound about right IMHO. Can't see you'll get 10% (more than 20bhp) without going to the full system with downpipe, and even then it would probably be only just.

Wink

My estimates for MY00, argue if you like:

Backbox 2%
Full decat 5%
PPP 10% (including some exhaust bits)
PPP & decat 13%
Std or PPP ECU & decat & boost controller 19% or remap & decat about the same
All the trimmings (apart from going internal) with big turbo and FMIC up to 50%
