Had a great car day, firstly went over to halfords.. bought 4m of 8gauge earth wire and then went to local car spares and picked up a load of battery/earth connectors..
Before i fitted the cables i thought it would be an ideal day to paint my 4 pots, so i jacked up the car, supported with axel stands and gave the calipers a good clean with wire wool and brake cleaner.
After applying the first two coats of paint i made up the cables for the earths.
I have only run 3 cables, one from the batt. terminal to the right hand suspension top, one to the alternator via the manifold (bottom right inlet port) from batt. and one to the left hand suspension top from the batt. via the left hand side of the manifold...
I am going to run a cable to the ecu mounting tomorrow.
First impressions are that idle seems smoother and the car fired from freezing cold (not run at all today) as soon as i turned the key, the car used to turn over twice before firing up when cold..
After i had put the final coat on the calipers and replaced the wheels i decided to fit my plugs that have been sitting in my garage.
So all in all a good day for my scoob, nice shiny red calipers, earthing mod/improvements and a new set of 7b NGK's...
Thanks for reading people
Rob
p.s. cable and connectors cost £14.50

yeah, took the first plug out and it looked a bit red.. thought **** water in cylinder
Then realised it is the octane booster.. bit of a shock at first.. all the other plugs are the same, not rust colour but still a shock at first.. all in all a top day!!!!!!!
Rob
just got the back brakes to paint, looks ok with just the fronts done but will look better with the back done as well..
