Got my intercooler this morning from an STI V (so I'm told) and excitedly ripped open the packaging. However, when I compared it to the standard UK intercooler I was shocked to see its the same depth, width and height I'm now concerned I've just paid £150 for the privilage of a badge saying 'Tuned by STI'
My questions is this. Is there a difference appart from the fact the new intercooler is silver and has a badge? Is it actually better? I'm hoping this is one of these situations where size really does not matter
Opinions please

I actually thought the same Saxo, sorry.
The STi intercooler is silver because it has no black paint on it. If you were to srip the paint off your intercooler it would be exactly the same i think. I may be wrong though.

IIRC the sti one is the same as the one on the P1, which according to information i read some time ago, the P1 has an up rated TMIC over the the standard UK.
Its probably the caore thas different. Better flow rates etc.
All IMO of course.

Sti one has a better core than a standard my99/00, of course the sti-v top mount is the same as a P1 cos a P1 is basically a converted STI-V type-R anyway.

Hope your right but I looked into the core and its just intercrossing fins - doesn't look to complex so I can't understand how it could be vastly different to the UK. It'll be interesting to see what the UK one looks like when I take it off and look inside.

STi one is better - less pressure drop in the core - you may need to adjust your Dawes. Still you should not go over 1.25 bar for safety. And you really should have a knocklink....

I thought the same as you so I didn't get one. It didn't look different at all (well not significantly). There may well be different internal stuff but the size looked the same.
IMHO I would rather go for the MY01 WRX i/c.
Let us have your results on this mod please.
