Ive been Linked.....Thank you BR Developments.

Hi all,
Finally after driving around in my STI 6 for the past few months paranoid that it would fail due to fuel, i had a LINK ecu fitted and mapped.
All i can say is WOW! Appart from the fact that i can use Optimax on its own now, i also have a load of torque which i never thought was available. On the whole, the car feels a lot smoother, more economical (258 miles to tank which included trip from London to Swindon, mapping and back again), and amazing throttle response. The turbo also spools up a lot better and very sharply. In fact, the throttle response is so good that im going to have to get used to it as im heavy footed. All i can say is this upgrade is definately worth every penny and in the long run saves money and a potential rebuild.
Many thanks to Bob and Branko.
Regards

Did you put booster in your car ever time before then?, I was told Optimax is considered safe as long as your not going to be pushing the car for longer periods at speed, ie trackdays.
How much booster per tank were you using?
Cheers

Gez,
Good to hear you've finally got what you were after. Out of interest, why did you go for the Link over an Ecutek reprogram? Are there things the Link could do in your case the Ecutek could not?
Ta,
Matt

Hi megastream,
I was using NF octane booster from the time the car arrived in England. I usually added 300ml/tank, in other words, a bottle of NF per tank of Optimax. On some occasions i took some logd using delatadash and it found no knock correction. Regarding the use of Optimax, ive never heard that its no good for long periods at high speeds. Well i hope not anyway because i had my car mapped for Optimax alone with no Octane booster.
Cheers

Hi Mat,
Bob told me that yes there are things the LINK can do the ECUTEK cant. The best thing to do is to speak to Bob in person as the list was quite long and technical. Saying that, he is currently using ECUTEK in his crazy STI 5 so it cant be bad.
Cheers

katana- it is my understanding that you need a 6 port boost solenoid before an anti lag module can be fitted.
you may also need a boost oscillation control device in order for it to run properly.
best speak to branko about these things as he is the expert.

Hi Guys,
I dont think anti-lag needs another module as its in the software. You either have it on or off. When its in the on mode it runs for a certain period of time. All that is needed is a switch to activate it. I may be wrong so speak to either Bob or Branko for that as im sure they will be able to help you.

i have a boost oscillation control device fitted to my scoob,it made a massive difference to spool up and power delivery.
definately one of the best mods for the money
anyone else got one???
not to sure about anti-lag though, it knocks hell out of your turbo.

Have used a LINK ECU with antilag, with a 2 and 3 port Subaru solenoid no problem ..... only problems are that a lot of fuel is used and turbo's too

scoobert- had A BOCD fitted for around 6 months but havn't had much chance to use the car as its been getting a little work done(well,a lot of work done to be honest!)
,a few of the 1/4 mile guys are using them with good results.

its a boost oscillation control device, it prevents the charge pressure from vibrating or something like that( no expert )
from the states i think!!!
will have to see if it makes much difference when i get my car back together.
got mine 2nd hand for £70,not sure how much they are new.

katana- no, but i will be next year!
madmatt- think they are only available from the states as i have seen no tuning companies over here selling them.
i will tell you how good they are when i get my car back together next week.

RB Antilag is a system that makes rally cars pop and bang on the overrun (i.e throttle is closed). This is to scare any stray animals off the road in forest rally's - a large deer can cost a rally driver 10" on a stage. It does this by forcing fuel through, even though the throttle may be fully closed - this fuel then ignites in the hot manifolds and effectively keeps the turbo spinning - ready for boosting immediately the throttle is opened again. It's pretty brutal as you can imagine!
